Obrọkpe rhiẹ ode
Nigerian design
as a modern,
global language.
My vision for this collection was to reimagine Nigerian design as a modern, global language. I explored cultural dualities — from the regal, architectural shoulders of Igbo blouses to the soft, protective embrace of a simple wrapper. The silhouettes move between the grandeur of ceremonial robes and the intimacy of body-conscious forms, reflecting both shared heritage and personal identity.
Craftsmanship and symbolism are central to the work. Accessories draw from the coiling of Adudu basketry, the geometry of Akwete cloth, and the tassels of Sahelian gear, while garments reference Yoruba beadwork, Benin court art, and the Igbo concept of Chi.

"The way a mother secures her child with a wrapper — both strong and tender — is a guiding principle of my design process."
