The knot bag form, derived from the Japanese furoshiki wrapping cloth, is here given a thoroughly contemporary treatment. Constructed from the same technical spacer fabric used in the collection’s womenswear, the bag holds its structure without internal framing, the fabric’s three-dimensional weave providing just enough rigidity to maintain the form while remaining light enough to carry effortlessly. The bold red screen-printed motif, a stylised animal figure derived from the tradition of Nigerian Uli art, covers the front face of the bag and provides the piece’s primary visual statement. The matte black ground and the graphic red image create a contrast that is both bold and precise, rooted in both contemporary graphic design and a specific West African artistic lineage. A bag that carries cultural meaning as well as personal belongings.
