Beaded Breastplate Mesh Gown

A sleeveless mesh bodice becomes the ground for a handcrafted breastplate of beads, chains, and jewels, layered with the dense intentionality of Yoruba ceremonial adornment. The embellishment reads as armor and as offering simultaneously.

Below, a patterned waist panel transitions into a long skirt of sheer black chiffon, the weight of the ornamentation above giving way to something almost weightless. Bodice: cotton mesh. Embellishment: hand-applied beads, chains, and jewels. Skirt: black bridal chiffon, floor-length.
